Come meet new friends and learn a dance number in our Summer Team Routine! Over six weeks you will learn a fully choreographed routine with a dedicated dance instructor. You will not need to bring a partner, we will rotate dancers throughout class. This is a beginner friendly routine, so you do not need prior dance experience to join. This is a great way to meet new dancers and new friends. By the end of the last practice, you will have the option to perform!

Details

Dates and Times: Sundays from 2:00PM – 4:00PM
July 7, 14, 21, 28, August 4, 11
The first hour will be content pertaining to the routine. Throughout this hour, we will mix in games to build balboa and swing dance fundamentals. Everything you learn can be used to lead and follow at your favorite social dance venues. During the second hour we will have opportunities to recap and go over any part of the routine. At the end of each class we’ll provide a video recap so that you can work on the material at your own pace.

Stick around after class and practice for our afternoon group outings. This is a great way to relax and get to know your teammates. We will go out for afternoon tea, field trips to dance venues, or a late afternoon lunch!

Can’t make it to some of the scheduled class dates? You are welcomed to make up the material during the second hour of any date. We will coordinate additional practice times as needed.

No Dance Partner or Prior Experience Needed!

Admission to the all events below are included in the program. Even if you’re not performing, your entry will be covered so that you can cheer your teammates on!

Costuming

We want your input! We’ll have ample time to coordinate costumes halfway through the series. Costume costs are not included in the program.

Photos and Videography

Most videos and recaps will be left private between team members. Our best group photos will be shared through google drive.

Additional Questions

You are welcome to learn the routine without performing. You can also attend any or all of the events included above. We want you to feel successful, confident, and having made some friendships!

Note that Camp Hollywood 2019 in Los Angeles falls on August 30 – September 2 and will not affect our performance dates.

If you cannot commit to a practice, there will be some opportunities to make up this time during the program. I recommend utilizing the balboa practice time that occurs with the San Diego Balboa Lab every Thursday from 7 – 8:30PM.

You can still catch up if you’re joining the program a little later, up until the deadline. Be sure to utilize the full time during the remaining practices. You can also take a private lesson to iron out some details (click here for more).
