Dance Instructor | Event Coordinator | Community Leader
A simple gesture connects you with your community.
Hello! My name is Gordon Dang. My upbringing in the swing dance community inspired to give back to my local scene, and have since relied on as a pillar of support. The journey I embarked upon settling in San Diego 2014 branched out from a coordinator to an instructor and DJ to an event organizer. I value personable experiences and meaningful relationships between both new and old friends, and that these beliefs guide my moral compass in giving back and maintaining a healthy and positive community.

I have placed at competitions at Camp Hollywood and at the California Balboa Classic. I am a cofounder of the San Diego Balboa Lab. I’ve been a co-organizer within the Leadership team for San Diego’s First Saturday Swing and for the San Diego Balboa and Lindy Exchange. My professional career is in biotech and research: I provide treatment drugs for veterinarians. On my free time, I enjoy outdoor adventures like hikes and camping trips.
I’ve developed this website under my name to provide transparency in the workings behind the scenes of some of the projects that I am involved in, to convey the passion and love for the dance community and maybe providing other people a resource who might benefit from them. It’s also a collection of experiences I’d wish to share!
I teach swing dancing as a vehicle to impart community values with my students and my peers. My vision is to continue the preservation of the swing dance art and its rich jazz music of the early 1900s.
